A disturbing descent
In which a casual genre nut heads straight to a collision course against the dreaded disturbing movie iceberg graph that traumatized the people of Reddit.
It’s ironic that I — someone with a bad case of thalassophobia — have decided to partake in a ‘challenge’ that explores unknown depths.
I’m not descending to our oceans’ deeper trenches, of course. I’m talking about one of Reddit’s most wicked brood, an iceberg chart of the world’s most disturbing movies, from The Human Centipede to Black Metal Veins.
Here’s what the chart looks like:
It’s worth pointing out that the last two categories seem populated with snuff films only, and I’m as yet unsure if they’re worth including in this challenge.
In any case, I’ll be documenting my descent up to at least the sixth level down this chart. As proof of watching the films, I’ll publish an update for each level; I’ll also appraise the films according to how much they have disturbed me.
I’ll also probably turn the updates into a series on my YouTube channel if you prefer that format.
I haven’t set a committed schedule of when these updates should drop yet, so I invite you to subscribe so that you may get them on your email as soon as I hit publish.
If you want to join my descent in real-time, I’m going to be tweeting the films I watch. You can also use the hashtag #DisturbingDescent, and I’ll feature some of your reactions in each update.
