A quick email about building the Deep Cuts community.
Deep Cuts began as a newsletter sent exclusively to friends. But after my last email, I've seen a steady ripple of new subscribers.
I thought I should herd this (as of writing, small) sample of very cool people somewhere there’s a semblance of community. I’m hoping that everyone will mingle and happily discuss horror media on these channels.
As of email time, I have two things for you: 1.) the Substack Chat feature, and 2.) a Discord server.
The Substack Chat is pretty easy to access if you’re already reading Deep Cuts in the Substack app. If you haven’t yet, you’ll need to install the Substack app, then, find the Chat icon.

Ironically, I don’t think the Substack Chat is much conducive to conversations, so I’ve decided to build a Discord server for Deep Cuts.
The Discord server will serve both subscribers of both the newsletter and the upcoming YouTube channel (more information on this soon!). Mostly excited about it because it allows us to do fun stuff together as a community, including watch parties, a book club (if we so choose), gaming lobbies, and more.

That’s about it for now. In case you’re wondering about the film I’ve used as a cover image. It’s from Dodo Dayao’s 2014 film, Violator — to this day, one of my favorite Filipino horrors.
